Founded: 1886 Motto: Levavi Oculos in Montes 1885 - On September 24th, Bishop William Woodruff Niles oversees the first Board of Trustees meeting in Concord.
1886 - On September 21st, eight boarders, fourteen day students and six teachers begin classes at Saint Mary’s School for Girls in a mansion on South Main Street in Concord, NH.
1935
- Dorothy ‘Aunt Dot’ McLane moves the school to the mountains to allow students to be "part of something larger than themselves." The school resides at the estate of author Ernest Poole in Sugar Hill.
- The school is renamed St. Mary's-in-the-Mountains.
1936
- 'Aunt Dot' moves the school to its permanent home overlooking Mountain Washington and the Presidential Range at 'Seven Springs" - the 40-room estate of Eman and Mary Payne Beck.
1938
- The school hires Hans Schneider to teach the Saint Mary’s girls skiing twice a week.

- Addition of the Classroom Wing
1962 - Addition of the Science Wing
1964 - On January 3rd, a fire destroys 'Seven Springs'. Students are away on school break so no one is harmed. All that remains is an illuminated Bible and Mexican silver cross.
1965 - A new main building and Burroughs dormitory are built.
1968 - Carter dormitory is completed.
1970 - Boys are allowed admittance to St. Mary's-in-the-Mountains.
1972 - St. Mary's-in-the-Mountains is renamed The White Mountain School.
1978 - McLane Center/Solar Dormitory is dedicated in honor of Dorothy McLane.
1986 - The White Mountain School/ Saint Mary's-in-the-Mountains celebrates 100 years.
2000 - 3000 sq. ft. Climbing Wall and Nautilus Facility is completed.
- Hill House and Student Lounge renovations are completed.
- Library is completed and dedicated.
2003 - Farm is added to the Vaillant land adjacent to West Farm Road property.
2006 - Fred Steele Science Center is completed and dedicated.
- Academic Wing renovation is completed.
- Barbara's Walk is dedicated.
- Hamish MacEwan Art Prize is so named.
- Student constructed Timberframe structure is completed on the WMS Farm.
2007 - WMS receives the NAIS Leading Edge Award for Global Sustainability.
- Chickens are added to the WMS Farm.
2008 - Greenhouse is added to WMS Farm.
