The White Mountain School

Learning

The White Mountain School is dedicated to offering a student-focused, college preparatory curriculum. Education designed with small, progressive classes allows students to be actively involved in their own learning.

Through a robust curriculum and small, interactive classes, the White Mountain experience allows students to own their education and become responsible and innovative young adults.

In addition to a 4.0 grading system, each student is evaluated on six LearningOutcomes — content knowledge, complex thinking, communications, information processing, collaborative worker, and self-directed learner. LearningOutcomes are designed to assess a variety of important skill areas and help students understand their own learning.

Linda Clark McGoldrick '55 Library
Our library is open daily for study and research. Students are encouraged to use the library during the academic day and during evening study hall. Our library has a collection of more than 7,000 volumes, periodicals, local and national newspapers, magazines, CDs, videos, online catalog, and five databases (Britannica, Access Science, Greenwire, EBSCO, and GaleNet). We actively participate in the Inter-Library Loan (ILL) program, where books and resources for specific research may be borrowed from the libraries at Dartmouth College and the University of New Hampshire. The library is equipped with several computer work stations with high-speed internet access. All students receive a personal email address.

Multimedia Center
Our multimedia center offers teachers the opportunity to use specialized software and programs to enhance learning. It's well-equipped with the latest in computers, monitors, and high-speed internet.

College Matriculation
Ninety-nine percent of our students attend college. Our students consistently report to us on how well prepared they are for college. View our 2003-2005 college matriculation list to learn which schools our students attend.

WMS is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, the nation's oldest school accreditation body, serving nearly 2,000 New England schools.
