Hero-Academics-College-1

Where will you go after graduating from The White Mountain School? Wherever you want to go, we can help you get there. We are excited you are researching more about our school and academic services. The philosophy of the college counseling program is based on the principles that discovering good matches between students and post-secondary institutions is what the college admission process is all about, and that the colleges best suited for our students are the ones that will challenge and nurture their academic and social maturation. Our college counseling program offers distinctive and exciting programs for our students to explore.

We’ve found that students who are happiest about the college process are those who have thought critically about their abilities, their goals, and needs. In becoming well-informed, students and families who listen to their hearts and heads and let information and insight, rather than over-simplified college rankings guide them, will be happiest and most successful. We look forward to working with your child and assisting them in navigating the college process.

The White Mountain School’s College Counselor is a member of the New England Association for College Admission Counseling (NEACAC), the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), and the Association of College Counselors of Independent Schools (ACCIS). These organizations and White Mountain’s College Counseling Office support NACAC’s Code of Ethics and Professional Practices (CEPP).

In accordance with the CEPP:

  • The White Mountain School does not endorse more than one early decision application, and we will not support more than one admission deposit unless there are special circumstances communicated to the College Office. A student’s final transcript will be sent to the one college where the student is enrolled.
  • Students, families, and The White Mountain School have a shared ethical responsibility in the college process. It is unethical to submit false, plagiarized, or fraudulent statements on applications or other documents. Students will sign statements on their college applications stating that all of the information is honest and accurate and all writing is their own.
  • In keeping with The White Mountain School’s core beliefs and the CEPP, the College Counselor will acknowledge student discipline that leads to suspension or dismissal to colleges when asked on application materials. Students are also required to report truthfully to colleges on their applications about any discipline that leads to suspension or dismissal. Should a disciplinary incident occur after applications have been sent, the counselor will send a letter of support informing schools of the change in status of the student’s disciplinary record. The College Counselor will help students compose a letter of explanation about the incident to submit as well.
