Kathy Kohatsu is the former Director of Creative Edge Dance Studio (2005-2018) and has been an instructor at the studio since 2003. She earned her MFA from Case Western Reserve University in Dance and her BA from Colby College in Waterville, Maine, majoring in Economics and minoring in Performing Arts and Education. She started her movement career as a gymnast but realized later that it was dance that really made her spirit soar. She really enjoys the dual role of dance as both an athletic endeavor and artistic exploration. She encourages all of her students to fill their movement with energy, care, and intention and has felt so privileged to support the strong, talented, and committed dancers of Creative Edge through so many seasons and so many performances.
Kathy has also spent time as a faculty member at The White Mountain School; teaching both Dance Technique and Introduction to Choreography classes. When she is not at the studio, Kathy is a full-time teacher at The Woodland Community School, an independent school in Bethlehem, New Hampshire, where she supports students grades k-8 to follow their curiosities in a student-directed learning environment.
