What has influenced your passion for working with students?
There are a number of reasons I want to teach and work with students! Primarily, I remember the connections I had with my teachers growing up, and how much of a difference it made in my experience and my confidence when a teacher would take the extra time to work with me, listen to me, and connect with me both in and outside of the classroom. I want to provide a similar role for students at WMS—one that helps push them through the content that may not come naturally, while also encouraging exploration into new subjects, gaining everyday life skills, and building confidence for different scenarios—be it writing a research paper, giving a presentation, or summiting a mountain!
When you’re not in the office, where can we most frequently find you?
Walking the trails around campus, throwing pots in the ceramics studio, planting stuff in my backyard, or trying a new recipe from one of my gazillion cookbooks!
What is one interesting thing not many people know about you?
I studied 6 different instruments (violin, clarinet, piano, trombone, tenor sax & guitar) throughout my childhood –but unfortunately don’t play them much anymore! (but I still love to sing!)
What’s your favorite season?
Fall! …and summer….and winter…and spring! (But mostly fall)
What do you want to be when you grow up?
So many things! Today I’m torn between food critic, sci-fi/fantasy novelist, and screenplay writer.
