Why White Mountain?
For 18 years, The White Mountain School has captured my heart and fueled my mind and soul - first as a science teacher, coach and dorm faculty member and now as an administrator.  For me, it always starts with the students. White Mountain supports a unique, whole-person education in which students can try new things and also delve deeply into nearly any area of their choosing. This is a school where students are supported to seek challenge, learn as much as they can, build relationships, and truly become their very best selves. Through my work with alumnae/i, I have had the privilege of seeing the lasting benefits of the White Mountain experience and as a fundraiser for the School, I have been able to help donors give to what matters most to them - the people, programs and physical spaces of The White Mountain School.

When not in the classroom I can be found:
Running trails, hiking, x-c skiing, exploring the woods, cooking, coaxing living things to grow in a little bit of soil, or drinking a cup of tea

Favorite tradition at WMS?
Graduation - White Mountain has the most heartfelt graduation I’ve ever experienced.  Year after year, it captures the relationships that are at the very core of the School.

Favorite place on campus?
The bio loop (or, really, any part of the woods around campus)

Favorite White Mountain teaching moment?
It’s really hard to choose one moment - both because there have been so many amazing moments at White Mountain and because I think teaching and learning are processes that defy single or isolated moments in time. I think that my favorite teaching and learning experiences at White Mountain have been the times when a person who has needed support (in whatever area - academics, athletics, interpersonal relationships, etc) has been able to say, “thanks for your help, but I’ve got this now”.  And...off they go!
Not many people know that:
I have a couple of published scientific journal articles (from what usually seems like another lifetime!) on chemical defenses in...seaweed
