White Mountain School Climbing Camp focuses on the fundamentals of rock climbing through our low student-to-instructor ratio. First, we cover the basics, and then we embark on adventures at large cliffs throughout New Hampshire’s White Mountains region. Ultimately, students experience the freedom and pleasure of climbing rock in beautiful places.
Based out of our New Hampshire summer boarding school, a typical week at White Mountain Climbing Camp might include:
Climbing routes with varying levels of challenge at local cliffs, such as Cannon, Cathedral or Whitehorse
Learning the basics of gear placement and anchor building
Climbing legendary multi-pitch routes, like the Whitney Gilman on Cannon Cliff or Thin Air on Cathedral
Learning to sport climb at the famous Rumney rock climbing area
Gaining a thorough understanding of what practices make climbing safe and unsafe
While not at the cliffs participants will also:
Climb in our spectacular climbing gym, which is 38 feet tall and over 3,000 square feet, including 500 square feet of steep terrain for bouldering
Form new friendships with like-minded teenage climbing enthusiasts
Swim in local bodies of water
Participate in evening activities such as Ultimate Frisbee, movie watching, and games night (pool, ping pong, foosball) in our student lounge
Lodge in The White Mountain School’s dorms
Eat delicious food in our dining hall, including organic fare grown right here in The White Mountain School’s garden
