Mika joined The White Mountain School in the Fall of 2023 where she teaches in both the History and French departments. Mika’s interdisciplinary background allows her to teach in a range of courses in the Humanities and Social Sciences. Previously, Mika taught French, History, and Women and Gender Studies at Phillips Exeter Academy, Sociology and Anthropology at Great Bay Community College, and a range of subjects in the Humanities and Social Sciences at schools in San Francisco and Oakland, California. She has a B.A. in French and Anthropology from Amherst College and has studied at the Sorbonne and L’Institut d’etudes politiques in Paris, where she also worked as an English teacher for several years. She has a M.A. in Cultural Anthropology from the University of California, Santa Cruz and a M.A. in English Literature from San Francisco State University. She and her children lived on the Greek island of Paros for several years, where she taught courses and developed a thriving permaculture project. Regenerative farming is one of her passions. She is currently completing a M.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies through the University of Maine. Mika loves yoga, swimming, and running. She has two children — one is in college — and the other joins White Mountain as a junior in 2023. She and her son live on campus with a dog and three cats.
