Testimonials

“I was still in middle school when my sister had started coming here as a day student during her junior year. She would come home and talk about all the awesome athletics and co-curriculars and all the traditions like Casino Night or Mountain and Beach Days. One day we picked her up, and as she was talking about her day, I decided right there that I wanted to go to White Mountain because it would give me so many opportunities, and it really has. I was drawn here by the co-curricular activities, but I'm staying because of the community and the learning environment. Everything about the School is so phenomenal.”

“The most beautiful aspect of the educational philosophy and pedagogy at White Mountain is that students are given permission and space to actively pursue their interests. To watch our son become a teenager in this culture and on this campus has been amazing.”

“I applied to maybe 18 schools and ended up having around 15 offers of admission. The top two reasons I chose White Mountain were because I felt like I could genuinely belong here and because when I came to visit—which I did about three times before deciding—I just saw a lot of genuine people and genuine experiences. It was also so important to me that the student body is about 40% students of color. I wanted to be in a situation where I had enough of a community of other people of color to stand up and support me and be my network.”

“It’s a gift to have our daughter in an environment where she is surrounded by adults who are so invested in her success. As parents, we know we can’t always be the ones pushing our children, so it’s an incredible opportunity to be able to partner with inspiring adult role models who are such a positive influence in our daughter’s life. The advisory program has been fantastic and very complementary to what she needs in her progression through high school.”

“I am grateful that White Mountain has classes such as Anatomy and Physiology, which includes Wilderness First Responder (WFR) Certification, and activities such as FIRST Robotics, which supports STEM education and immersive learning. I think having hands-on STEM opportunities, especially in high schools, really shapes who students will become and how they approach problems.”

“White Mountain changed my life and influenced my thinking about education in profound ways. While there, I came to realize both the importance of belonging to a culture and community, as well as the need for education to be participatory. This comes about through the size of the School, the environment of the School, and the people who create those things.”
– Randy Gawel ’88, Principal, Frankel Jewish Academy

“My most valuable takeaway from being an international student at White Mountain was that the School taught me the real meaning of serving your community. I developed lifelong friendships and fundamental life values—the ultimate goals of the School. As an international student, White Mountain helped me understand the real meaning of diversity, and as a student, the School prepared me well for academic studies in college. Without White Mountain, I would not have gone this far.”
